Wind power is undoubtadly one of the best renewable sources available to us today. wind power electricity is the use of wind to rotate the blades of huge fan connected to generator turbines which coverts the kinetic energy in to electricity. It is a fairly recent invention and we are still unsure about the best possible ways to harness this technology. Till today only about 1.5 % of world's power is generated through wind powered mills.
Various countries where using wind energy is viable have put this technology in to action. Denmark uses around 19% of power produced by wind energy which is quite remarkable. It is then followed by 11% power generated by spain.Portugal uses about 7% wind generated electricity. Unfortunately not all countries can afford to construct this technology due to the cost and the wind conditions available in the country. Sadly only 8 countries have been able to produce wind electricity for commercial use.
The experts estimates that total wind energy potential on the planet is around 72TW. This shows as the awesome power and capacity of a much valued resources in our world. But there are practical problems faced while generating wind energy.
firstly, wind energy is available only to few countries, many countries are covered with vast deserts and extreme cold zones some other, where installing turbines yields very poor results.
secondly, cost of setting it up is too much for developing nations to begin production. Even though it is true that once set up,the energy production more than makes up for the initial cost.
thirdly, the low output of the turbines.
